Cinderella Coach by Volkstedt Porcelain Factory
Before Restoration: The front leg was broken in two places
After Restoration: The restorations were fine enough for it to be sold at this antique shop.
This fine porcelain "Cinderella" Coach was made by the Volkstedt Porcelain Factory, Thuringia, Germany which used this particular marking between 1915 and 1981. We believe this to be from the earlier period due to the extremely fine detail. Of special note are the intricacy of the lace on the cuffs, jabot and tie on the driver and footman, the dappling of grey on the white horses, the delicate brass chain used as livery, the tiny molded pink rose buds on the base, gold accents and the exquisitely painted crest and coronets on the coach. The colors are beautiful, especially the royal blue on the men and the green and pink base. The entire coach and horses are on a wooden base and over-all measures 24" wide, 12" tall and 7 1/2" deep.
Volkstedt porcelain manufactury sited in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany, was the earliest porcelain manufactory in Thuringia.[1] It was in business as Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur, the "Oldest Volkstedt Porcelain Manufactory", which was integrated into the VEB Vereinigte Zierporzellanwerke Lichte, which in turn formed part of the Kombinat Feinkeramik Kahla.[2]
