Universal Fine Art Conservation replicated this 24 Karat gold giltwood crown when it was lost in transit.
An appointment was made to pick up the mirror and to determine what style of furniture the crown was to be made for.
After seeing it we immediately knew it was Rococo and that the mirror should have a rosette style gilt crown.
We faxed the owner a drawing depicting what was to be carved for authorization, and she gave us the green light with her signature.
She was relieved to know that we knew what style of crown belonged there because she had trouble articulating it.
The finished results were flawless and the customer was elated.
Here is the new crown before it was carved and gilded. The drawing serves as a guide for the chisels
Here is the giltwood crown mounted on the mirror.
