The central carved backrest was replicated because it was too shattered for repair. The fragments were glued back together in order to make an exact template to be carved. After it was carved, stained, finished, and installed, the antique dealer could not tell the difference between the old and new backers. The after picture illustrates that our work was fine enough for it to be sold at Harborside Antiques, Stamford, CT. for $16,000.
"I am very impressed with the old world craftsmanship and attention to detail. It's absolutely perfect!"
